Governor Polis’s 2023 Inaugural Address
Dear fellow Coloradans It has been an honor for me to be your Governor over the last four years. With the deepest gratitude to Colorado that I accept the honor of leading the state for the next four years.
Let me begin by noting the honor and pleasure it would be for each members of our community to be present this morning to be part of this time-honoured tradition.
The peaceful continuation of power should never be thought of as a given. It is the only thing that sustains our great nation, every year decade after decade and century after century.
The November election witnessed Coloradans from all walks of life unite to declare that democracy is in fact, sacred and worthy of taking part in.
People from all backgrounds and ages all the way from Garfield up to Douglas, Las Animas to Larimer – – have said loud and loudly about the fact that Colorado would like to unite, not division.
We seek concrete solutions and tangible results, not partisan politics. We’d like to progress with a positive and bright outlook for the future of our community.
In Colorado we have our own distinct method of conducting business. We are bold and ingenuous. We’re driven by results. We work to improve our possibilities.
We have chosen to live here , because it’s the ideal location in America to livein, create a family, and live an amazing life. Let’s keep celebrating the colors of blue and red, each and every one of us.
The mandate of the Colorado people is to guide the Colorado way and that’s precisely that I plan to do as your Governor during the next four years.
The issue is not the image of our politics. It’s about real-life solutions to problems, and a desire to improve the lives of everyone.
Our goal is to open doors for all Coloradan. We must fulfill our dream of an Colorado with a place for All. There’s an old Jewish saying: Anyone who disqualifies another is a liar.
This administration won’t focus on placing our colleagues Coloradans down. Our administration will always be focused on helping people to increase possibilities and freedoms for all and all.
Whatever part of Colorado you reside in or who you are or who you are. It doesn’t matter what race you belong to or gender, or your religion or what you do with your decide to vote. Colorado is a part of everyone of us, and we all can determine our future.
If you are able to travel throughout Colorado more often than Lieutenant. Governor Primavera and myself do, you acquire an appreciation for the distinctive character of each community. If you listen to enough people and you will realize that many people are seeking the same things:
- Simple, sensible solutions to the increasing cost of living.
- Communities that are safe, with schools that are good and access to affordable health healthcare.
- A chance to create your ideal life for you along with your children.
- Freedom to choose your own way, without the guidance of the government on what to do in your life.
I’m not sure I’d be here today if we didn’t have some tangible progress in achieving this goal.
This job is about the chance to make a difference in the lives of every Coloradan I’m proud to say that, together, we’ve accomplished that in a number of significant ways:
- Free full-day kindergarten.
- Reduced cost of prescription medicines.
- Reduced property and income taxes.
- We must protect our skies and public areas.
- And defending Coloradans most fundamental freedoms.
